Wet and Dry bulb control system.
- The wet and dry bulb control system is the standard in the lumber industry for operating kilns. Normally these systems use standard R.T.D. (resistance
temperature detection) probes for sensing kiln chamber temperatures. The relative humidity is determined and controlled by measuring the wet bulb and the
dry bulb temperature. By using a conversion table chart, you can determine the relative humidity and/or the equilibrium moisture content. The majority of
controls operate temperature related valves and actuators only, such as:
- - Valve for heating kiln (steam, hot water, gas, etc.) (Based on dry bulb)
- - Actuator for opening vents or starting dehumidifier (Based on Wet bulb)
- - Valve for opening conditioning spray (steam or water) (Based on Wet bulb)
- Wet/dry bulb controllers come in many varieties:
- - Controllers with programming for entering a multi- stage time based programs.
- - Controllers placed in a computer network help control auxiliary components,
such as frequency drive for main fans, modulated operation of vents,
modulated operation of heat valve, integrated moisture meters, etc.
Most kiln controllers manufactured today are either based on "off the shelf" controllers adapted to use in kilns or strictly design for kilns. Either solution can
provide you with a reliable kiln controller which will work for many years to come. However, they are seldom prepared for future expansion or
changes/improvements in drying methods. As the industry started building more electronics into kiln controllers to optimize kiln output, the cost of kiln
controllers rose steadily. When purchasing a kiln controller, you should expect a controller that meets both today's standard, as well as accommodate future
advances in kiln programming.

This kiln controller is based on an industrial PLC. This provide both the
customer and ourselves with greater flexibility in programming features and
hardware configuration. These controllers are prepared for full compliance
with Wooddryer Link System network. Our network can help you operate your kiln(s)
more efficiently, as well as maintain a thorough operation file.
The flexibility designed into our kiln controllers extends to both to the
current features available, as well as future developments in drying methods
and new technology. In short, the all Wooddryer System controls are easily
upgraded. It is even practical to make specialized changes for a certain customer
