WOODDRYER SYSTEM specification sheet.

Electrical powered moveable between deck for large kiln chamber.

In most kilns a method can be found to guide the air into the lumber packs. The guide baffles are placed vertically along the side walls and/or on the top, closing the gap from the false ceiling to the top of the lumber packs. Horizontal baffles on top of the load are more common than the side baffles, which are mainly found on pre-fabricated panel buildings. Normally, the lumber is placed further away in panel buildings (due to costly repair when damaged) making side baffles a necessity.

Baffles are generally manufactured in aluminum, steel, stainless steel, or sometimes plywood / rubber strips. Most of these systems block the air in one particular area (one strip across the load). Baffles are most commonly placed on either side of the kiln load and rarely are they found throughout the load.

The picture to the right shows an innovative solution to the short comings on standard baffle systems. This is called a moveable between-deck (false ceiling). This is really the false ceiling and baffles combined into one long baffle, which is lowered on top of the lumber from one end to the other and attached to the main fan section.

This design improves air flow in several different ways:

This design offers more than just improved air flow:

These four pictures shows you the main components of the moveable between deck

Custom made tarp made to fit your kiln, ready for installation of cross runners( as seen in picture). The steel wire hangs from the ceiling. Wooddryer system suggest using 5/16" wire with vinyl coating and an outside diameter of 3/8" for maximum protection against corrosion. Normally cross runners are manufactured locally.

Using Wooddryer System components and design can insure you an optimum system with as trouble free an installation as possible. When you purchase our components we supply detailed installation drawings and illustrations for your local contractor or on-site personnel.

A hand winch and different pulleys can be used for smaller kilns.

Wooddryer System is dedicated to designing kilns, manufacturing kiln equipment, controls, and components for increased kiln efficiency, reduced energy cost/consumption. This is provided by our Company to the lumber industry at honest pricing.

In keeping with this philosophy, we offer this design to the industry, which may be copied by the dry kiln owners. We only ask that you mention Wooddryer System for an innovative solution when asked for information. This is a simple system that can easily be made by using local materials (which will normally be cheaper and of less quality compared to our components when placed in a kiln drying environment); however, we hope you will consider using Wooddryer System components and parts if you are desiring the best quality .
